Boreholes Water Contaminated by 76 Pesticides Molecules in the Cotton Zone of Kérou

The underground water analysis campaign was carried out in 2010 on five samples of boreholes located in the agricultural cotton region. The results obtained showed that there were different active substances containing at least 76 pesticide residues, in particular insecticides , herbicides and fungicides, with an aggregate content that could average 0.350 or 350 μg / L per borehole. All the prospective boreholes were, indeed, polluted. Agrochemical materials, however, have been suspected of being the source of deterioration in the consistency of surface and ground water. All pesticide molecules studied were present with a concentration of at least 1 μg / L, with some molecules such as: aldrin (7 ± 0.7 μg / L), dieldrin (2 ± 0.7 μg / Ls), phorate (7 ± 2 μg / L) and terbufos (7 ± 1 μg / L), exceeding the maximum residue limits. The areas where cotton starvation is practised were the most affected areas of the pollution of the underground water by pesticides. Analyses carried out on water from boreholes revealed a Water pollution by pesticides with low pollution inequalities depending on the zone of agriculture considered, even though some of the boreholes were more polluted than others.
