In the context of Lord and Shulman’s generalised thermoelasticity theory, this study analyses the photothermal interaction of an isotropic, homogeneous, semiconducting, viscothermoelastic solid cylinder. The cylinder revolves around its axis at a constant angular velocity. The outside of the cylinder has been thermally shocked. The governing equations were constructed in the Laplace transform domain, and numerical Laplace inversions were performed using the Tzou method. With various values of mechanical relaxation time, angular velocity parameter, and lifespan parameter, the numerical findings for the carrier density increment, temperature increment, strain, stress, and stress-strain energy of a photogenerated carrier have been visually presented. The carrier density function and temperature increment are unaffected by the mechanical relaxation time and angular velocity of the rotation parameter, but they have a significant impact on strain, stress, and stress-strain energy. The photogenerated carrier’s lifespan parameter has significant implications for all of the functionalities explored.
